Owners and operators of supermarkets are notified that in light of the infectious COVID-19 disease, it is important that frequently touched surfaces at supermarkets and stores are being cleaned and disinfected on a regularly basis. Examples of these surfaces area:

• Shopping baskets
• Shopping carts
• Conveyer belt at the cash register
• Counter tops
• Freezer door handles
• Chiller door handles
Toilet bowl handles
Door handles
• Faucets in the restrooms and kitchen area

The staff should be encouraged to frequently wash their hands for a minimum of 20 seconds, and to cover their cough and sneeze inside a flexed elbow, or use a tissue which must be immediately disposed of followed by hand washing.
