Residents of the Virgin Islands are encouraged to wear purple, the international colour of domestic violence awareness, on Friday, October 7 as part of the Domestic Violence Awareness Month activities.

Persons are also encouraged to wear ‘Stop Domestic Violence’ t-shirts which can be purchased from T-Shirt Genius located upstairs of Supa Valu on Tortola. Interested persons are asked to call 542-4989 to place orders before October 7.

In marking this occasion, the Office of Gender Affairs aims to create a national demonstration of unity against domestic violence and to show support to survivors.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month is observed under the theme, ‘Step up, Speak up, Seek help’.
