Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton recently served on the policy makers’ panel at the 10th Caribbean Conference on Health Financing Initiatives held in Turks and Caicos.

Minister Skelton was accompanied on the panel by Premier, Dr. the Honourable Rufus Ewing of Turks and Caicos and other health officials from Jamaica and Belize. He shared the progress and challenges of the British Virgin Islands’ experience moving towards universal health coverage.

The conference focused on the best practice models of health care financing that could be effectively applied within the Caribbean region. It was attended by Ministers of Health, Health Policy Makers, Health Financing and Health Insurance Practitioners and Health Care Providers from across the Caribbean and North America. 

The three-day conference was held in October under the theme "Caribbean Health Financing - Preparing for the Next Decade.” Minister Skelton was accompanied by Permanent Secretary Mrs. Petrona Davies and Director for the Social Security Board, Mrs. Antoinette Skelton.
