Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Carvin Malone has made an appeal for the public to stop the hostile behavior associated with positive cases of COVID-19 in the Territory.

In a COVID-19 Update announcement today, August 28, Honourable Malone stated that there is a growing trend of persons being dismissive against persons rumoured to be associated with positive cases and that this behavior is not welcomed.

Honourable Malone explained, “This type of behaviour will cause persons to fear coming forward and the end result is not favourable to you, your family or your friends.”

The Health Minister also made a special appeal to persons who visited a number of establishments including Ramons in Huntums Ghut; the Vault in Long Bush; the Edge in Long Bush; the Avenue in Mill Mall; and all bars and night clubs in Fat Hogs Bay and Paraquita Bay  to assist the contact tracing team and help ensure the well-being of all citizens. Patrons who visited these establishments from August 15 to August 22 are urged to contact the Medical Hotline at 852-7650 to schedule an appointment for free testing of COVID-19:

Honourable Malone also mentioned that testing was available for persons residing on Virgin Gorda who are experiencing symptoms or who have had a recent exposure or otherwise consider themselves at risk for COVID-19. The testing services will be provided at St. Mary’s Anglican Church Hall today and Monday, August 31 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary and testing is free of cost.

Common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, headache, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, muscle aches, or difficulty breathing.
