The Disabilities Unit within the Social Development Department continues to support their clients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Head of the unit Ms. Lorna Dawson stated that there are challenges adjusting to the new safety measures such as physical distancing and staggered schedules but that the unit continues to function to the best of its ability.

Ms. Dawson said that a high point was the success of the summer camp that   focused on getting client’s attention, processing speed and logic.

She added that the BVI Services, a day time programme for differently abled adults, is on-going and is serving clients in groups that meet two days a week with a   focus on cognitive intervention.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development aims to provide leadership that promotes health, social wellbeing, and a safe environment as positive resources for sustainable human development.
