Press Release
Buildings located in the Registration Section of Road Town will now have physical addresses with a street name, number and postal code to each building and property.
Chief Planner in the Town and Country Planning Department, Mr. Gregory Adams said this is as a result of the implementation of the National Addressing System (NAS). “NAS is a framework designed to establish a reliable and consistent method of assigning a geographic and numeric address to all buildings within an area,” he said.
Mr. Adams explained that the assignment of addresses will allow for reliable and fast identification of buildings throughout the Territory. “For example, emergency responders will have precise locations during an emergency, post office and mail couriers can now offer door to door deliveries and billing collection services for public and private sectors,” he added.
All addresses for the Registration Section of Road Town have been mapped into the Geographic Information System (GIS). Once an address is entered into the system, responders will have the ability to see the route and navigate directly to that address.
Mr. Adams said that while the Registration Section of Road Town is being used as a pilot area, a systematic expansion to the entire Territory is coming in the near future.
Persons who reside or have businesses in the location of Duff’s Bottom to Sophie Bay, and far north as the Ridge Road (Road Town Registration Section) are encouraged to visit www.bvimapping.gov.vg/NAS to retrieve their physical addresses which will take the following format:
