The Ministry of Health and Social Development is alerting the public that a shipment of 500 pediatric doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine has arrived to the Territory and is now available for the 5 to 11 age group.

Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Ronald Georges said that the United Kingdom has made pediatric doses of Pfizer vaccine available for vaccination and expressed thanks to the UK Government for its continued partnership with the BVI to ensure that the Territory has continued access to these vaccines.

“The pediatric doses will provide an additional layer of protection to this age group of children who can now access these vaccines in the Territory, Dr. Georges stated, adding, “Children ages five and over can now be vaccinated to help protect against COVID-19.

Persons interested in having their children vaccinated can do so at any community health centre via appointment or at the Catholic Community Centre, Monday to Friday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. School groups with ten or more persons to be vaccinated can contact BVI Health Services Authority’s Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) Manager Ms. Mariana Bedeau for onsite vaccination. Ms. Bedeau can be contacted via telephone at (284) 440-1671.

 This batch of pediatric doses expires in 10 weeks. Interested persons are encouraged to act quickly so they do not miss this window of opportunity.  Additional supplies will be available as these are utilised.
