Ten contestants will continue to the semi-finals of the Gen Y Factor 2020 - Glee Edition “Battle of the Schools” to be held on July 11.

The names of the contestants were revealed on June 17 and include :

1. Janique Gordon - H. Lavity Stoutt Community College
2. Toriah Price – Bregado Flax Educational Centre
3. Jalani Clarke - St. George’s Secondary School
4. Tymia Fahie- Elmore Stoutt High School
5. Tiarra Ramsarran – St. Georges’s Secondary School
6. Afyah Frett – Bregado Flax Educational Centre
7. Favour Ogbonnaya - Ciboney Centre of Excellence
8. M’Kylah Pollock - Ciboney Centre of Excellence
9. Petuellia Anderson – Elmore Stoutt High School
10. Shakeba Pickering - Elmore Stoutt High School

Director of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mrs. Brenda Lettsome-Tye said that due to COVID-19, the semi finals and the finals will be hosted virtually on the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports Facebook page.

Contestants gave judges a preview of their singing talent during the auditions. The audition videos of the 2020 Gen Y Factor and the Reveal can be viewed by visiting the department’s page @DYASBVI.

Gen Y Factor is an annual singing competition which is in its fourth year and caters to  youth between the ages of 15 to 29.

The Department of Youth Affairs and Sports created the Gen Y Factor Competition to give young people an opportunity to showcase their singing ability, develop their skills and encourage them in pursuing a career in the music industry.
