Who We Are
The Development Planning Unit (DPU) was established in 1974 with the assistance of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and fell, under the Ministry of Finance. One of the main purposes of the Unit is to provide a range of statistical information, economic analysis and recommendations to the government to facilitate informed decision-making, planning and policy formulation for the overall strategic development of the Virgin Islands. In 2012, the planning function was transferred to the Ministry of Finance and the Central Statistics Office was formed. The primary function of the office is to provide statistical information and analysis for decision-making. The Central Statistics Office falls under the portfolio of the Premier’s group.
