A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for the British Virgin Islands as Tropical Storm Erika continues to head west.

The Conservation and Fisheries Department is inviting the public to participate in the 2015 International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, September 19.  Persons can also participate in the clean-up from Thursday, September 17 to Monday, October 5 in the Virgin Islands. 

The Ministry of Education and Culture is informing all its Principals and Teachers that the 2015 Professional Day for Educators which was scheduled for Monday, 24th August, 2015, has been postponed until Monday, 31st August, 2015

The Inland Revenue Department is inviting the entire British Virgin Islands community to tune in to the Spotlight programme on JTV Channel 55 with featured guests Commissioner of Inland Revenue, Mrs. Karen Aaron, Deputy Commissioner of the Inland Revenue Department, Mr. Orris Thomas, and Assistant Commissioner Mr. Charles Benjamin. 

The Agriculture Department is advising all farmers to secure their farms in preparation for Hurricane Danny. 

The Ministry of Communications and Works is informing the public that traffic through the North Coast Road directly in front of the Carrot Bay Methodist church will be diverted on Saturday, August 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Hurricane Danny has been upgraded to Category 3.

The National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Hurricane Hunter aircraft which investigated Danny this afternoon has indicated that it is a major hurricane.

Danny’s latest position was recorded as 14.3 degrees north, 48.6 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are estimated to be 115 miles per hours with higher gusts.

At 5:00 a.m. the centre of Hurricane Danny was located near latitude 13.7 degrees north, longitude 47.4degrees west. Danny is moving towards the west near 10miles per hour (mph) and a track to west to the west-northwest is expected during the next 48 hours.
