Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Andrew A. Fahie has announced that all customs duties on imports that are above five percent (5%) will be reduced to five percent (5%) effective April 15 for three months in the first instance as the Government of the Virgin Islands makes the relevant adjustments to provide relief to the people of the Territory.
The Government of the Virgin Islands is inviting proposals for the provision of design services for the configuration and outfitting of the Her Majesty’s Customs Courier Cargo Distribution Centre located at Port Purcell.
The public is informed that effective January 17, post-paid Cruising Permits would not be issued to charter operators/companies without an approved Operator Agreement between Her Majesty’s Customs and the company.
Operators wishing to apply can write a letter to request approval to the Commissioner. The letter should include their average charter operations within a 2-week period and the amount of cruising permits they would be requesting.
Agreements can be completed at the Customs Headquarters at the Richard Stoutt Building providing all the requirements are met.
All charter operators/companies with two or more vessels are invited to a mandatory symposium for new and existing approved operators on Monday, January 10, at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at Her Majesty’s Customs Training Room. Interested persons should contact the department at 468-6800 to register for a session. Please note that due to COVID-19 guidelines, spaces are limited to one representative per charter company.
