Let me first extend greetings to everyone in the British Virgin Islands, the Region and to those tuning in by radio and other media platforms throughout the World. I am Carvin Malone and as Minister for Health and Social Development I wish to update you on the Territory’s COVID-19 status and response; the AstraZeneca vaccine rollout and Cabinet’s decisions of Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021.
I want to begin by reminding us all that the future in the Virgin Islands is for the prepared. And this is a good point to reflect on at this time because students at all levels are coming to the end of their courses of study and are celebrating their graduation from their respective programmes.
Good day and God's Blessings to all the people of the Virgin Islands and beyond.
As we move forward together, to accelerate the further reopening of our tourism industry and re-energising of the Virgin Islands economy, as we continue to make major adjustments under the new phases of our strategy for balancing lives and livelihoods in this ongoing COVID-19 Global Pandemic, I am pleased as your Premier to address you the Virgin Islands people once again.
I extend greetings to all in the BVI, the Caribbean region and the world. Mr. Speaker, the last update on the COVID-19 Situation was issued on 5th May 2021. As of today, 13th May 2021, 32,057 tests were conducted on individuals swabbed throughout the Territory and evaluated at the Dr. D Orlando Smith Hospital.
