My people of the Virgin Islands Good day and God’s blessings to you. You would recall that approximately two weeks ago I led a delegation to London to discuss with the United Kingdom Government, its offer of a Loan Guarantee for Recovery and Development projects in response to the damage arising from Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017. Please note that the discussions were not about a loan, but rather about the conditions around the loan guarantee.
The following is a joint statement by the Ministry of Finance and the Department of Human Resources on the possible delay in the payment of salary for some Public Officers.

Good day and God’s blessings
As I speak, our top level BVI athletes are in Doha, Qatar, to compete in the 2019 International Association of Athletic Federation’s World Championships. Our athletes are having a stellar athletic season, and we send them all our support as they again GO FOR THE GOLD!
Tropical Storm Karen is moving away from us and I am happy that we find ourselves in this wonderful position where we can get back to a state of normalcy. Thanks be to God!
I never thought such a valuable experience could be had with the enabler being a disaster. As a professional but more critically, as a man who loves this Territory, I was moved by the visible love for the BVI expressed through a caring and attentive community; even through the uncertainty of the past storms. We still have an active hurricane season and we must all Be Ready and Stay Ready.

Good morning, Tropical Storm Karen is behind us and I thank God that we are all safe. I thank my Acting Permanent Secretary Mr. Jeremy Hodge in the Ministry of Transportation, Works and Utilities and the staff for their hard work and dedication.
By grace of our Heavenly Father who gives us strength, we have been spared from serious damages that could have resulted from the passage of Tropical Storm Karen last night.
I greet you this morning with gratitude, not only because this territory has been spared any major damage from Tropical Storm Karen, but also because you have displayed enormous patience so far this season;
Today, we have seen showers, winds, and rough seas. I have been advised by the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) that there will most likely be more to come this evening as Tropical Storm Karen passes near us and moves away.
Good day to all residents and visitors in the Virgin Islands. The National Emergency Operations Centre continues to monitor Tropical Storm Karen as this system deteriorated somewhat overnight and then regained strength today. The Territory remains under Tropical Storm Warning, meaning that tropical storm conditions are expected in our islands.
