As a follow up to meetings in London in December of last year’s Joint Ministerial Council, and in response to an invitation from Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE, senior representatives from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, particularly the National Crime Agency (NCA) and Serious Fraud Office (SFO) visited the Territory from February 25 to 26 to engage in further technical discussions on strengthening the legal framework for cooperation to tackle cross-border financial crime in both jurisdictions.
The Government of the Virgin Islands is continuing with efforts at taking a futuristic approach to the development of the Territory’s education sector.

Food handlers and other persons in Virgin Gorda who will be participating in the Easter Festival are notified that Food Handlers’ Clinics will be held in preparation for this event.
Owners of dogs in the Territory are reminded to implement good safety habits through registration of their pets, leashing, tying and fencing-in practices.

Nine local entrepreneurs will compete for the title of the Virgin Islands’ first 2015 Business of the Year, Most Innovative Business of the Year and the People’s ChoiceAward next week.
Members of the West End boating and yachting community were encouraged to practice greater maritime safety during a public outreach meeting and mini exposition held at the West End Community Centre on February 18.
Today, February 23, marks the 50th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s first visit to the Virgin Islands. Her Majesty was accompanied by her husband, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
