Drainage improvement works are underway at Brewer’s Bay as the Government of the Virgin Islands continues to improve the Territory’s road infrastructure.
The scope of work includes saw cutting of existing road surface, excavation of road to prepare for drains and installation of vapour barriers and reinforcements including starter bars for drain slabs.
The project also include installation of reinforcements for drain walls, concrete application to walls, backfilling to drain walls, road reinstatement, installation of grills and clean-up of site.
Works commenced on April 6 and is estimated to last approximately six weeks. The road will be closed to the public to ensure that there are minimal interruptions to the project. Residents and other persons traversing into Brewer’s Bay are asked to use the alternate roads at Great Mountain and Joe’s Hill Road leading into the Round Hill area. The public is also advised to take extreme caution and pay attention to road signs for their safety.
The Ministry of Transportation, Works and Utilities continues its mandate to bring relief to the people of the Virgin Islands in this ongoing third phase of the economic response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
