Persons with Chronic Diseases in the Territory will soon benefit from a Self-Management Programme courtesy the Family Health Unit of the Ministry of Health and Social Development in collaboration with the BVI Health Services Authority.

The Stanford University Self-Management Programme will be offered from November 15 to December 13 and is a support programme specifically designed for persons with Chronic Diseases.

Chief Nursing Officer, Jacinth Hannibal said that attendees will discover how to live well with their chronic diseases.

She said, “They [Registrants] will also learn how to achieve better management of their health, how to eat better, and move more using small incremental steps. Persons attending should have been diagnosed with a chronic disease, such as, diabetes, hypertension, asthma, lupus, cancer or arthritis. Caregivers of these persons who would like some support with coping with the diagnosis of their loved one are also welcomed.”

The workshop will be held every Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Outpatient Department Waiting Room at Peebles Hospital. Interested persons are invited to call 468-2275 or email to register.
