East End Road To Be Completed By The Holidays

East End Road To Close In The Evenings Until December 15

The Ministry of Communications and Works is informing the public that the Blackburn Highway from Parham Town to the Queen Elizabeth Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic nightly from Saturday, December 13 to Monday, December 15 between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Land Encroachment (Wayleaves)

Occasionally the Government requires a portion of private lands to widen roads and/or create alternate access roads to other properties.  The process to inform, negotiate and compensate the owner(s) is a Wayleaves matter.

Street Lighting Assistance

 Installation of street lights in residential areas of low visibility at nights

Assistance with New Electrical Connections

Provide new electrical connections to persons who requires financial assistance where the cost of the connection is high due to location of the house from the main supply. 

Application to Install Standby Generator

Installation of a standby generator must be pre-approved by the Government. The standby generator is only to be used when the BVI Electrical Corporations current is off. 

License to Import or Sell Fireworks

Fireworks display in the British Virgin Islands must be conducted by a licensed Pyro Technician. 

Fireworks Exemption

Displaying fireworks in the British Virgin Islands is prohibited by law. Anyone who is desirous of having fireworks displayed should apply to the Ministry of Communication and Works for a one off exemption

Caribbean Development Bank Representatives Tour Work Sites

On Thursday, December 4, Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) Project Supervisor for the BVI, Mr. Albert Gillings visited the Territory from Barbados to assess the progress of the CDB loan components.  Mr. Gillings, accompanied by CDB Project Coordinator Dr. Drexel Glasgow and officials Ms. Haley Trott and Mr. Elton Smith of the Ministry of Communications and Works, visited completed CDB loan funded project in Palestina, Parham Town, Thomas Land and Ballast Bay.  Dr.

De Castro Street Closed To Facilitate Christmas Street Fair

The Ministry of Communications and Works is notifying the public that De Castro Street will be reopened on Sunday, December 7 at 8:00 a.m.

The purpose of the road closure is to facilitate the 16th Annual Celebration of Christmas on Main Street.  Motorists are asked to use alternate routes during this time.
