STATEMENT FROM THE NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL ON THE RECENT ARRESTS

The armed robbery at the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park on 1 July was a shocking incident which caused great concern for all present at the Pier Park that day and for the wider community.

My dear Virgin Islands people, a pleasant good day to each and every one of you.

The members of the National Security Council (NSC) have been briefed by the Commissioner of Police on today’s armed robbery at the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park. 

Madam Speaker, I would like to take this opportunity to provide a report to this Honorable House on my recent trip to Barbados from the 11^th to the 16^th of June to attend the PAHO/WHO SIDS (Small Island Developing States) Ministerial Conference on Chronic Diseases and Mental Health and its significance to the Territory. 

His Excellency, the Governor Mr. John J. Rankin, CMG, chaired the Meeting held on 15th June, 2023 at the Premier's Conference Room.

Madam Speaker, the Ministry of Communications and Works is responsible for meteorology.

Madam Speaker, The Ministry of Health and Social Development recently made the Final Report of the Social Assistance in the British Virgin Islands Review public. We are also seeking the public’s input on the document.

Since assuming office, my Administration has been active in advancing the interests of the Virgin Islands at both regional and international levels.

Madam Speaker, I am pleased to provide an update on the work progress at the Burt Point Waste Water Treatment Plant.

As Minister of Communications and Works, this is indeed a great occasion to be here at this contract signing ceremony to kick start the major works associated with the East End Long Look Sewerage project.  The signing of this contract signals the clear intent by the Government of the Virgin Islands to complete the East End Long Look Sewerage project.
