Premier Andrew A. Fahie: Government Of The Virgin Islands Extends Condolences After Fatal Shootings

Good day and God’s Blessings to everyone.   In the space of two weeks, we heard of two fatal shootings in our community. On Wednesday, September 2, Mr. George “Shawala” Burrows was shot in his home. On Thursday, September 10, Mr. Matthew Daly was shot in the Spring Ghut. In both instances, both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

Three years ago yesterday, Hurricane Irma unleashed unprecedented destruction. The fact that we are still on the land of the living is a testament to God’s faithfulness to us. I am grateful to God for his guidance and protection over the past three years. Tough times don’t last, but tough people do. I thank God that he blessed us with resilience.
