Steps involved in the importation of meat.

Process

Step 1:  Please review the Conditions for Beef and Pork.  (If the country where you would like to import meat from is not listed, please contact the Department for more information).

Step 2:  Fill out the Application for Permission to Import Carcasses/Meat Products form.

Step 3:  Send completed form to the Department and once approved, an Import Permit will be sent back to the Importer granting approval for the importation of the meat.  The port of entry and the date of arrival will be recorded on the import permit.

Step 4:  On the prescribed date, a Veterinary Assistant will meet the importer at the particular port of entry.  They will inspect the meat and ensure that all the necessary requirements are met before approval of entry into the BVI is given.
