Thursday, April 21 is designated as a public holiday in the Virgin Islands in observance of the 90th Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 50th Anniversary of her first visit to the Territory.
A competition for the creation of a Territorial Pledge was officially launched as the Government of the Virgin Islands continues to work on building national pride among the youth and the population in general.

BVI London Office Director and United Kingdom (UK) Representative Mr. Benito Wheatley was unanimously elected Chairman of the United Kingdom Overseas Territories Association (UKOTA) on behalf of the Government of the Virgin Islands on January 25.
Full-time music teacher at the Elmore Stoutt High School and part-time music teacher at the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports and Harrigan’s Music School, Brent Hoyte has been announced as the face of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports (DYAS).
