Governor's Group/Deputy Governor's Office

The Governor is the representative of Her Majesty the Queen in the British Virgin Islands.  The Constitution gives the Governor certain responsibilities which include oversight for external affairs, defence and internal security, administration of the Courts, and the terms and conditions of public officers.  By tradition the Governor is also Head of the Public Service.   He is also the Chairman of Cabinet and the National Security Council.

British Virgin Islanders Named In The Queen’s New Year Honours

His Excellency the Governor Mr John S. Duncan, OBE is delighted to announce that Deputy Governor Mrs V. Inez Archibald has been awarded a CBE and Mrs Annie Gardner has been awarded an MBE in the 2015 New Year Honours List.    

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II made the appointments as part of her New Year Honours List which was released in London today. The Queen’s New Year Honours List recognises individuals for outstanding achievement and service across the United Kingdom and the Overseas Territories.

Three To Receive BVI Badge Of Honour

Three persons will receive the BVI Badge of Honour for their outstanding contribution to the development of the Virgin Islands.

   His Excellency the Governor, John S. Duncan, OBE after consultation with the Premier, Dr. the Hon D. Orlando Smith, OBE and the Leader of the Opposition, Hon R. T. O’ Neal, OBE accepted the recommendation of the BVI Honours Committee that Mrs. Marlene Penn-Trotman, Mr. Clarence Cecil Thomas and Mr. Reynell V.Frazer be awarded at an Investiture Ceremony to be held in their honour at Government House on December 9.
