The Conservation and Fisheries Department is a department under the Ministry of Natural Resources & Labour of the Government of the Virgin Islands, which seeks to manage the natural resources of the British Virgin Islands in a sustainable manner. It was formed specifically to address the growing environmental stresses that the British Virgin Islands are experiencing. The Department is responsible for all aspects of Natural Resources Management and is divided into five functional divisions each focusing on a particular aspect.
We envision an environment that is well managed, protected and preserved to maintain the unique ecological features and natural beauty of the British Virgin Islands, through a legal framework that promotes the rational, efficient and sustainable utilization of these resources in harmony with economic development, indigenous culture and recreation.
We will seek to ensure that the environment, the Fishing Industry and the resource base on which they depend are managed in a sustainable manner for the greatest possible benefit of the people of the British Virgin Islands.
We share the ethical values of the British Virgin Islands Public Service, and pledge to be:
- Committed - Striving to give our best to every task.
